Prospective Member, We welcome the participation of those who share our passion for accurate portrayals of the medical history of the tragic American Civil War. We include in our roles: Surgeon, Ambulance Crew, Bakers, Christian Commission, Civilian Men and Women, Contract Surgeons, Cooks, Dentists, Embalming Surgeons, Invalid Corps, ladies Aid Societies, Laundress, Mortician, Nun/Sister, Nurse, Patient Corps, Pharmacist, Priest/Minister, Private (male Nurse), Provost Marshall, Refugee, Sanitary Commission, Sexton, Steward, Sutler, Women in Morning and many others. Here you will find information about our organization, about each persona and teaching tools (The Surgeon’s Table). The Field Hospital is designed to function as an umbrella organization to represent the medical service, similar to the National Regiment, U.S. Volunteers, Army of Northern Virginia, etc. Event organizers respond more favorably to our registration applications when we can field our members in Larger numbers. As a result we get placed in prominent locations where our equipment and demonstrations can be viewed by the public. We are no longer shoved “back over the hill somewhere…” as had previously been the case. In addition, we are now a Federal 501 (c)3 Non-Profit organization. That means you will be able to deduct the total costs of all uniforms, medical equipment, gasoline, motels, meals, travel, etc. expended in the furtherance of our educational goals from your gross Taxable Income. This is a most valuable benefit, and far outweighs the costs of your membership dues (which are deductible as well). Of course we encourage you to retain membership in your “Home Unit” as we do not require exclusive membership. We welcome your interest and invite you to fill out and return the application to become a Field Hospital Associate along with $12.00 membership fee (per family). Your request will be promptly processed and we look forward to working with you in the field. Yours in Service, Major Larry C. Denny, M.S. |
